Longing for Spring

I have spring fever, really bad! This is what I'm looking forward to (photos from prior springs):

The glorious forsythia, in someone else's garden. I have not had good luck with forsythias; I have to enjoy them in someone else's yard.

An exquisite magnolia, again, in someone else's yard. I would love to have a few magnolias in my garden but it seems I am running out of room.

 A hellebore in my garden

I've forgotten the name of this one - some type of squill, I think. Update: This is Puschkinia scilloides, a native of Turkey, also known as striped squill. Thanks to Donna from Garden's Eye View.

 Another beautiful hellebore

A few of my hundreds of daffodils along the fencerow - looks like a rugged country setting, doesn't it?

I have a passion for lilacs.

Clematis 'Josephine' is a favorite of mine. She was blooming in April last year. We had an early spring in 2012.

Tulips in Pella, also in April - way ahead of Tulip Time.

Sigh. I am so ready for spring!
We still have a bit of snow, but temperatures are in the 40s today and it's sunny. It renews my optimism!

On another note, I've heard that Google Reader will be going away in July. Any thoughts on how we can "cope"? I will really miss Reader - - it makes it simple for me to know every time one of the blogs I follow update. I know I could subscribe so that each new post comes to my email inbox, but for me that's not feasible, because it would add a couple hundred emails every week.

Hi Beth,
Wow! You are so lucky that Mr. Spring is visiting now.

Look at those flowers. They really are enjoying the sunny and beautiful weather. Not like Stockholm, we are still in a winter mode.

Happy TS,

I am ready also Beth! I just looked out at my clematis on the pergola, not a bud even puffing up yet! What a difference a year makes, but I am glad we are not having the heat we had last year.

I am so tired of Google, as if they don't have other pressing issues that they should be rectifying!!! I enjoyed all these photos, Beth. Tell me, what do you feed your lilacs? Mine have not bloomed the last two years. The first and second year they were overflowing. xo

Lots to look forward to. Not surprised about friend connect. Mine hasn't worked for over a year now. Reader I will miss too. I have my blog roll but half the time it doesn't work to add people and has even taken some out. Guess I better make sure I have everyone I want in there so I can see their updates.

Gorgeous photos. I'm looking forward to Spring too. I'm already enjoying warmer weather and so thankful for it after such a chilly winter.

The blogs I follow will no longer show up on my dashboard with new posts as they come up? That would make it very difficult to keep up with all the blogs I follow. :-/

Beautiful spring flowers, so ready for spring!

Dearest Beth; Your garden will be overflowing with brilliance. I always enjoy the photos you share. We still have snow on the ground here ... I'm so ready for spring too! Hope all is well and your little furbaby is keeping you entertained ~ they do help us to smile. xo C. (HHL)

Your spring flowers are so pretty and I can't wait to see the new photos :-)
Google Friend Connect is not going away - the blogs will still be on the blogger dashboard - it is google reader wihich is a rss feed that is going away July 1st. I don't use a reader, but many of my blog readers follow my blog on one, so hopefully they will make a switch.

That squill is amazing! So many beauties you have in the garden. My post tomorrow will have some spring pix, as we are early this year. Hope you'll come visit. Maybe it'll help you through...

It was 15 degrees this morning as we removed trees... and yet, I could really sense spring in the air! Won't be long now... Larry

I'm so glad that I will be following along with you on your garden adventures this summer! It's still so cold here, it never got over 35 degrees today.

I have heard from many bloggers about the Google changes. I'm not very techy so I hope the alternatives are easy to convert to.

Jane

A lovely spring will soon be here and we can stop dreaming...that lovely little white bulb with blue stripes is one of my favorites and a native of Turkey, Puschkinia scilloides.

I heard about Google Reader. I do have many of my fav blogs come to my emil. Others now go to my Wordpress Reader. There are other readers out there and I guess we will all have to move our blogs to these...

Good Morning Beth!

What a delightful way to start my day, seeing these beautiful flower photos! I can't wait for the real things to bloom.

I've never had a hellebore in my yard, nor have I ever seen or heard of a "squill". I have to go look it up, as that blue & white one is stunning.

Have a Happy St. Patrick's Weekend, Hon,
Rett

Hi Beth
I'm with you on being so ready for spring. It's snowing here again, we were spoiled with a couple of mild days last week.

OH Beth,
I have spring fever so bad it just hurts!!
And yet there is a pile of snow in my yard and as we speak it's snowing again. Ugh! I hate it. I want last year back.
My Mom assures me we won't have snow in June. I don't know anymore.
Love your pics, so pretty indeed!

Spring is on its way and you'll soon see those blooms again. As for Google, I looked at their page and it didn't say anything about Google Friend Connect being removed, so I think that's still safe: http://googleblog.blogspot.ca/2013/03/a-second-spring-of-cleaning.html

What gorgeous photos, Beth! I miss lilacs and their wonderful smell. We had them in Ohio and Michigan, but not here in Texas.

I think I have my head stuck in the sand about the new Google thing...so no help there.
Love the clematis...I had one when I lived in Michigan. But none here in AZ...you have a lovely garden...when the snow melts!

These flowers are a beautiful sight! Please tell me spring is just around the corner! The little blue flowers are just precious, I love the pink clematis, too. I need to go check for shoots in my backyard, my bulbs came up so early last year.

I thought I had been following your blog but I just signed on again and it went through. Odd. I don't know what I will do with the changes Google is making. Some bloggers are talking about the alternatives but it's all Greek to me. Hopefully it will all work out for everyone.

XO,
Jane
