My mother-in-law, her cousin, and her brother, 1920's
Wedding Day
A baby boy - my husband - age one month (1955)
Don't these parents look proud?
She was an outstanding and enthusiastic gardener. Here you see her beautiful heirloom rosebush which she brought back from her home state of Kansas. It was trained up the clothesline pole. In addition, you can see some lilies (not blooming yet) and rhubarb.
This photo was probably taken in the 1980's - again, in the garden. See how tall those tomato vines are on the left of the photo. The wire she is hanging onto is part of her clothesline. She used a wringer washer all of her life, and although she had a dryer, she preferred hanging her clothes out.
I've been busy with the holidays, company, and my new puppy and not blogging as much. I hope to get back on schedule in the near future.

What a wonderful woman! Love her green thumb and I have known many women who loved their wringer washers and hanging out on the line. If, and that's a big if, I can get the guys to move mine this summer, I might get back into hanging some things out, too. Like sheets and blankets!
I love looking at old photos. My mother never had a dryer either, used to say they made the clothes turn yellow! lol How is the new fur baby doing? xo
No wonder your husband is a MG too Beth. It's fun to look at the clothes and hairstyles our parents' generation had, isn't it.
Hugs,
Judith
Thanks for sharing such wonderful photos. It is so interesting how a picture can tell a story.
What great photos and memories, Beth! Wonderful! Happy New Year! So glad your pecan pie turned out. My pies aren't very good, so I stick to tarts! A bit more foolproof for an all thumbs pastry maker...me!

Great old photos. I enjoy looking at the old shots and what great history to pass down the generations.

Hi Beth,
it is a blessing that photographs hold the images for ever. So we can see our beloved relatives always, even when they died. Your Mother in Law was certainly a wonderful and in many ways talented women. Don't forget to write all the names and the years on the back of the photos to save them for further generations. Thank you for this nice view into a family life. And thank you for your visit and the kind comment, which I appreciate so much.
Best greetings, Johanna
Hi there, Your mil looked so beautiful in these photos; reminds me of my own mil. What a garden! We ended up going up to the Rockies this afternoon so didn't get anything accomplished here. Have a great evening.
Hugs, Noreen

Beth:
Loved these old photos! I always had to hang the clothes on the line.
I hope you will come back again and try linking - don't know what was up!
Hello Beth and Happy New Year, thanks for visiting my site. While you don't have much colors in your vicinity right now, i will give you the warmth in my two blogs, you haven't seen the other one, Pure Oxygen Generators, haha! And i guess looking at old pictures is a perfect thing during winter in your world.
Beth, those photos are amazing! I think the wedding photo was my favorite. :)
It's fun to look at old photos. Sometimes it's a gentle reminder that our "older" relatives or friends have had there turn being as young as, and younger than, we are now.
Have a wonderful new year,Beth.

Old photos are such a joy to see. You are fortunate to have old garden photos, which are rare.
I loved seeing the photographs of your mother-in-law. What family treasures. When our daughter was born we purchased a washing machine for her diapers [no disposables back then], and I hung them on the clothes line in the scorching Oklahoma sun to dry. When we were able to afford a dryer, I had no difficulty whatsoever giving up the clothes line! ;-)
I like old family photos. :-) Some are on display in my back entry........and I ALSO LOVE your new pup. SO cute. I know you are excited to finally have her. :-) Have FUN Beth!!! :-)
How sweet to have those photos, Beth! They are such treasures. It wonderful to see what a fabulous gardener your dear MIL was.
I love the old pics Beth!
I so understand the not blogging as much, but I love when you do.
Have a wonderful rest of week.
Cindy
Hanging clothes outside is wonderful. Not that I can do it, but I do dream of putting a line out.
The garden photos are great, and that first photo is darling!
